We headed over the mountains this Memorial Day weekend to celebrate my dad's birthday.
Thankfully, Griff packed his wallet, stocked with Pokemon cards which he informed us he would use as currency.

Saturday was Dad's actual birthday so he was the boss. We headed out to the cemetery to visit our loved ones that we've lost. Grandpa H, Auntie Shawn, Great Grandma and Grandpa Puppy, and Great Grandma and Grandpa Bichler. It was cool to share this with Griff and to tell him about what Memorial Day means.
We miss our loved ones terribly, especially those we lost way too soon, but we know that they are looking down on us from heaven as our guardian angels...

| Two Peas in a Pod. |
Then we had the opportunity of visiting the Washington State Veterans Cemetery to see my Uncle Michael. It was our first time here, and it was very moving. Griff thought it was so interesting and he enjoyed asking questions about what the cemetery was for. It is so awesome that Uncle Michael is laid to rest in such a reverent and wonderful place.

| My favorite part of this picture is Griff's little salute on the right. |
Randomly (as per usual in the Higgins family) we stopped at the pet store where we got our St. Bernard, Maggie, over 10 years ago. Unfortunately, there weren't many puppies, but the highlight for Griff was to hold Angelo the Parrot. Of course, now he wants one...but honestly, this bird was so cool!
We made sure to stop by and wish Baby Davis Happy Birthday. His Buddy Griff was sad he missed his party the weekend before;)
Dad's final request on our adventure was a visit to the River--a very special and spiritual spot for the family.
 |
| Hilarious. |
Next, we headed on home to get ready for dinner. Dad had marinated steak and chicken all day for fajitas!
 |
| The girls and their fur-kids! |
 |
| Final product...SO DELICIOUS. |
The night wrapped up relaxing together in the living room..Pretty much perfection.
Our weekend was amazing just spending quality time with the people we love.
Happy Birthday Harry! We love you to the moon and back.
